About PBH Accounting

PBH Accounting is husband and wife team Paul and Abigail Barker.

We have 30 years’ experience in accountancy between us. We worked our way up the ranks in big name firms and, although the experience gained was invaluable, we quickly learnt what bothers small businesses when they are swimming in amongst the big fish.

We decided to start an accountancy firm just for small and medium businesses and individuals. We vowed to always give our clients clear up-front prices (we know unexpected costs are a big deal to a small business), to treat you like the big important client that you are with personal service every time, and to give you plenty of notice when we need information from you for those tax deadlines. We launched PBH Accounting in 2012 and haven’t looked back.

We are a local small business dedicated to supporting your local small business.

Our People

Paul Barker

There are a lot of misconceptions about accountants – people often think of the classic Monty Python sketch on accountancy!

At PBH Accounting we’re not quite like that. We are both very approachable people who just happen to be mathematically minded. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have, so don’t worry about not knowing something – that’s what we are here for.

I also started my career at Price Bailey and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2004. I’ve held management positions for big firms through my career including for PA Consulting Group and FTSE 250 company Kier Group.

Any spare time I get is spent with my lovely children playing sports, and occasionally I get a round of golf in too. I also really enjoy my role as a business mentor for The Prince’s Trust.

Abigail Barker

I began training with top 30 accountancy firm Price Bailey LLP in 2004 and became a Chartered Accountant in 2008. I have worked on accounts for such a variety of companies, including management accounts, VAT, small traders and Limited companies. Personal tax is my speciality.

A keen horse-rider and mother of two, the desire to have more flexibility with working hours means I can share this flexibility with you. We know people don’t always work 9-5 anymore, so we don’t stick to this either. Evening appointments are available and I regularly visit clients at their place of work or their homes.

I love meeting clients and want to make their lives as easy as possible.

Free quotation

Prior to taking on any client, PBH Accounting always provide a free no obligation quotation and proposal. This means that our clients know exactly what they getting, and it allows us to tailor our services specifically to each of our clients.
